The wheat market is experiencing a slight pullback on Wednesday after significant gains the previous day, with Chicago SRW futures down 1 to 2 cents and KC HRW futures dropping 2 to 4 cents. The USDA’s recent Crop Production report revealed winter wheat output at 1.048 billion bushels, significantly below the anticipated 1.211 billion bushels, tightening new crop carryout estimates to 762 million bushels from 845 million bushels.

This correction comes amid disappointing yield results from the Kansas Wheat Quality Tour, which reported an average yield of 38.3 bushels per acre—well below last year’s 50.5 bushels per acre. Additionally, the upcoming USDA Export Sales report is expected to show new crop sales ranging between 100,000 MT and 350,000 MT, which could further influence market sentiment.

Market participants should closely monitor these developments, as tighter supply forecasts and lower yield expectations could lead to increased volatility in wheat prices ahead of the next growing season.
